Gus Hansen

One of the few European players in the Full Tilt Poker team, Gus Hansen is a Danish poker player. He has the amazing distinction of being the only player to win 4 WPT titles. His live earnings of more than $7Million which makes him 20th in the All Time money list of poker player winnings.

Gus had been a backgammon player when he was introduced to poker by Huckleberry Seed. He tried his luck at the 1996 WSOP for the first time but was eliminated on the first day itself. He turned pro in 2002 and gave up backgammon for poker. Gus tasted success in his first pro year itself winning the WPT $10K No-Limit Hold'em event at the Five Diamond World Poker Classic. His second WPT title came at $10K No-Limit Hold'em Championship at the WPT L.A. Poker Classic. The Bad boys of Poker Tournament in 2003 was his third WPT title and his 4th title came in the Caribbean Adventure tournament in 2004.

One interesting trivia I read about Gus was that he learned English by listening to Pink Floyd albums. He is also a competitive, high stakes Yahtzee! player. You won’t believe it but he was also voted one of the 50 most sexy men in the world in 2004. Though Gus doesn’t have a WSOP win to his credit but he has been at 5 final tables.

Gus was an exchange student in California when he chanced upon poker. He has also had a reputation for bluffing and being notorious.
